A quiet, native home for your notes, tasks, and ideas.
Quill is a Craft-style block editor for macOS. WYSIWYG markdown, folders, daily notes, and an on-device AI assistant. Every note is a plain Markdown file in a folder you own, not locked in someone else’s cloud.

Weekly Notes
Focus for the week
Three things that actually move the needle. Everything else can wait until they ship.
Write first, structure later. The outline reveals itself once the words exist.
The palest ink is better than the best memory.
No account. No sync server. No subscription. Just your words, as Markdown, in a folder you control.
- WYSIWYG markdown
- Plain .md vault
- Folders & tags
- Tasks & daily notes
- On-device AI
- Opens in any editor
Write in markdown.
See it as a document.
Type the markdown you already know and watch it become real blocks. Markers fade once you move on, so your prose stays clean. Flip between source and document any time.
- Slash menu.
- Press / for headings, to-dos, toggles, callouts, code, tables, and images.
- Drag to reorder.
- Grab any block by its handle, or indent with Tab to build structure.
- Block colors.
- Tint a line to make it sing without leaving the keyboard.

A workspace,
not just an editor.
Folders, tags, and starred docs in a file-tree sidebar. Open documents in tabs with VS Code-style preview and pinning. Browse everything as a grid, waterfall, or list, with full-text search.
- Tabs that behave.
- Single-click previews, editing pins the tab, just like your editor.
- Quick Open.
- Jump to any note in an instant.
- Progress rings.
- Every doc shows how many of its to-dos are done.
Your days,
one note at a time.
A calendar with month and agenda views, backed by daily notes keyed to the date. Capture tasks in the inbox or inside any document, and watch them roll up across the workspace.
- Daily notes.
- One tap creates today's note, dated and ready.
- Tasks everywhere.
- An inbox for quick capture plus per-document to-dos.
- Agenda mode.
- See the week ahead as a clean, scannable list.
An AI assistant that runs on your machine.
Quill drives an agent CLI you already have installed, in headless mode, using its own session. No API key lives in the app, and nothing leaves your Mac except what you choose to send.
- Claude, Codex, or Gemini.
- Pick your agent in Settings, or let Quill use the first one it detects.
- Doc, folder, or workspace.
- Choose exactly how much context the assistant can see.
- Saved chat history.
- Every exchange is kept with a title and time, reopened from a Cmd+K-style picker.
Your notes.
Plain Markdown. Forever.
Quill saves every document as a Markdown file with YAML frontmatter, in a folder you choose. Folders become subdirectories and daily notes get their own. Point it at iCloud, Dropbox, or a git repo, then open the very same notes in Obsidian, VS Code, or any editor.
- Real .md files.
- Plain Markdown you can read anywhere, with frontmatter for tags and dates.
- Open what you already have.
- Drop in existing Markdown and Quill adopts it; a leading heading becomes the title.
- No lock-in, no cloud.
- Not sandboxed, no proprietary format, and it works fully offline.

Built like a Mac app should be.
Quill follows the platform: instant light and dark switching, traffic lights nested in the sidebar, and a flat, seamless shell with no chrome in your way.
SwiftUI and AppKit, with custom NSTextView blocks. It launches instantly and stays light.
Real macOS Tahoe surfaces, with a graceful translucent fallback on macOS 14 and 15.
No third-party frameworks. Just the platform, used the way Apple intended.
Bring your writing home.
Download Quill, point it at a folder, and start writing. It is yours to keep, change, and build from source.
